Electric Cars Launched at NAIMA 2026

Chery: the new name everyone queued for

  • A brand-new entrant. Chery entered Nepal with the Q, a compact electric SUV priced from Rs 30.99 Lakh.
  • Only the first 100 buyers get that price. After them it returns to the regular Rs 34.49 to 35.99 Lakh, so the early-bird saving is up to Rs 3.5 Lakh.

Tata: four EVs and the first shot in the price war

  • The biggest single-brand EV drop of the show. Tata launched four electric cars at once, covering Rs 28.99 to 56.99 Lakh.
  • The New Tiago EV set the floor. At Rs 28.99 Lakh it is the cheapest electric car launch of NAIMA 2026.
  • The Punch EV 2026 broke the facelift rule. Bigger 30 and 40 kWh batteries, more power, yet up to Rs 3 Lakh cheaper than the old model.
  • The Nexon K3 and Curvv EV cover the upper rungs. A Rs 48.99 Lakh Nexon and a Rs 56.99 Lakh coupe SUV flagship.

BYD: the whole Atto family, refreshed

  • Three Attos in one show. Facelifts for the Atto 1 and Atto 3, plus the brand-new Atto 2 in between.
  • The Atto 2 fills the gap. At Rs 45.95 to 48.99 Lakh it sits neatly between the small Atto 1 and the bigger Atto 3.
  • The Atto 3 Superior got the biggest price jump of the expo. More than Rs 10 Lakh dearer overnight with the 2026 facelift.

Jaecoo, Leapmotor and Haval: the new challengers

  • GWM finally went electric in Nepal. The Haval Jolion Max is its first EV here, and Nepal is only the second market in the world to get it.
  • Jaecoo brought premium at Rs 54.99 Lakh. The J5 LR pairs a 58 kWh battery with 400 km of range.
  • Leapmotor undercut them both. The B03X Design ProMax offers 145 kW and 382 km WLTP for Rs 46.99 Lakh.

Maxus vs MG: the electric pickup battle

  • Two electric pickups landed in one show. The Maxus eTerron 9 at Rs 88 Lakh against the MG U9 at Rs 98.99 Lakh.

  • Hongqi launched from an empty stall. Its display car was stuck behind a landslide, but the E-HS4 still launched at Rs 57.99 Lakh.

The Story of the Show

When the doors opened at Bhrikutimandap, two stalls stood completely empty. Hongqi and Arcfox had their teams ready, but their display cars were trapped behind a landslide on the Tatopani road. Here is how the show unfolded:

  • Hongqi launched from an empty stall. With its car stuck in transit, the team went ahead anyway and launched the E-HS4 at Rs 57.99 Lakh.
  • The Arcfox T1 is still on the road. Expected at Rs 40 to 45 Lakh once stock finally arrives.
  • Tata fired the first shot in the price war. The New Tiago EV at Rs 28.99 Lakh is the cheapest electric car launch of the show.
  • Chery paid buyers to be early. The first 100 Chery Q buyers pay Rs 30.99 Lakh instead of the regular Rs 34.49 Lakh, a Rs 3.5 Lakh reward for queueing first.
  • BYD went the other way. The Atto 3 Superior became more than Rs 10 Lakh pricier overnight with its facelift.
  • The crowds trusted the old names. The longest queues were at Toyota, BYD, MG and Hyundai, not the newcomers.
  • Money was ready at the door. Banks at the venue offered 60 percent financing on the spot, with show-only discounts and booking gifts stacked on top.
